I have a 2004 4WD SR5 V8. I noticed this winter, especially when my 4 runner was cold, when I backed up or pulled ahead with the wheels turned near the stop that there was some shuddering or vibration as soon as I started moving. (It stopped as soon as the wheels were straight.) The dealer told me that was normal for the full time 4wd transfer case, and that it was the viscous coupling. I test drove another new one and didn't reproduce the noise/feeling. Since someone broadsided me and bent my rear axle soon after I bought it, I want to be sure it isn't hidden damage from the wreck. Does anyone else have this shudder with a 4WD model?
