i've been meaning to do something to my 1993 4runner for awhile now and i want to lift it but being a teenager, $1000 doesnt always come around when i need it. so i looked into body lift kits which are dirt cheap and i heard that they arent the greatest for your car. why wouldnt they be? i know you dont get more ground clearance im mainly considering it for looks and maybe help the resell is i sell to an unexperienced buyer....thanks for the help

Body lift isnt the greatest since it doesnt help that much with ground clearance, uses stock suspension, suspension travel isnt increased, basically it just allows for bigger tires (THATS IT) Yeah that makes a little extra clearance but not much.

yea thats basically what im aiming for. i hear alot about having to modify stock stuff like brake cables and stuff beacause of the stretch....true?

Depends alot on how high you go. 3inches for most vehicles is where you start to run into alot of things you need to do. Gas tank hose, never heard about the brakes maybe possible, steering parts, radiator parts, shifting parts etc...
Brakes shouldnt be too much of an issue, only the BODY will be lifted so anthing not attached to the body itself isnt much of a problem. Plus most things arent tight at stock so 1-2 inches they usually have the slack.
Check here for more info, it will tell you MOST of what you need to know.

You might want to look at a leveling kit from your local tire store this will give you around 2" - 2 1/2" lift and is usually cheaper than a body lift. Plus it does not leave your ugly frame hanging below your body!
