I am new to the 4RunnerForum and am not happy to announce that my first 4Runner purchase in May 08has been nothing but a miserable experience. I am specifically referring to the TomTom Navigation/Stereo that comes standard with the UrbanRunner package. Here is a brief run down of what I have dealt with since May 08.
1. TomTom broke 2 weeks after I drove off the lot. Toyota Dallas and Coprorate did not know how to resolve the problem. After several weeks of calling and writing e-mails to Toyota Corp. they replaced the sim card.
2. The TomTom worked for a few weeks and then it broke again. Same issues. The card had failed. I spent endless number of hours placing phone calls and writing letters. I wrote letters to the most senior people within Toyota Corp. and not a single apology. I had to plead for a new case manager b/c she was not interested in helping me. After several weeks they replaced the card. They claim it is the final fix. I have had it a few days and am very skeptical. I refuse to plug it in to the computer like you are supposed to and I refuse to use bluetooth or the ipod function for fear of breaking it.
*I am extremely upset by the way Toyoyta Corp. has handled the situation. They are not standing behind their product. I have spent 75%+ of my time without a working stereo, navigation, bluetooth. To boot my dealer's service manager said I was to blame b/c I plugged it in to my computer. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO PLUG IT IN FOR UPDATES AND TO SET UP THE OTHER FUNCTIONS.
* I plan on pursuing the lemmon law (if applicable) if it breaks a 3rd time.
* DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS OR ADVICE. I HAVE WRITTEN LETTERS TO THE VP OF CUSTOMER RELATIONS OF TOYOYTA CORP. I AM DESPARATE FOR A RESOLUTION. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR HELP.
