Hey,

New to the forum and I was hoping to receive some advice on a trade-in. I currently have a 2006 F150, 49000mi, NADA prices it around $17,000(trade-in value). However, I no longer work construction, so longer need a full-size truck. Looking around at 4runners, I located a 2002 Limited with 54,200mi priced at $16,999. 4runner (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=278399276&dealer_id=100025156&car_year=2002&rdm=1273182142088&lastStartYear=1981&model=4RUN&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&highlightFirstMakeModel=&start_year=1999&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&fuel=&body_code=0&awsp=false&search_type=used&distance=50&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&showZipError=y&first_record=26&make=TOYOTA&keywords_display=&color=&scarid=278751358&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&position=top&seller_type=b&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceASC&address=98012&advanced=&end_year=2003&pager.offset=25&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=5&standard=false)

Now, NADA puts the 4runner worth about $15,300(retail). This seems more reasonable - though still high. I like the 3rd gen 4runner, I've only heard good things, and it fits my needs so far as fishing, biking, and activities go. My qualms are in trading down to a 2002 that, although 'may' be higher quality and less problematic, will be ten years old soon and lose value considerably.

I don't need to trade-in, the F150 has had problems(about $2500 in the past 2 years) but I drove it cross-country without a hick-up and its never left me stranded; the trade is more for convenience and practicality. You guys think this is a good value/idea? Interested to hear criticisms. Thanks.
