Filled up the '95 yesterday. Got a whole 11.8 mpg (3.0L V6, automatic). Is this "normal"? What kind of milage are you getting with your Runner?

Thanks.

my 90 3.0 gets around 12 to 13 miles to the gallon 32s and 3 inch body.hence to say its not a daily driver.

well if its lifted with 31's then yes that is normal, a sacrifice in gas is the price for having a rock crawler. The truck is having to push more weight than anticipated from what is in a stock 4runner.

Thanks for sharing guys, I had written a post asking this very ?, what kind of mileage can I expect with a '92 4x4 3.0 auto (if we go ahead & buy it - it needs an engine/or rebuild the one half out of it). Considering if it's worth the investment & time to upgrade my current '87 22R 4cyl. which gets about the same. It's a beater, but it does the job....

I live in BOS and my 00 4runner gets aprox 20mpg street/highway. I find the winter gas here as well as having the heat or ac on also erodes mpg's. During the winter when "they" change the gas mixture's I steadily get less mpg's.

I noticed that as well Bolt. I seem to lose almost 1.5 mpg city/hwy. I drive an '05 SR5 4x4 with the 4.0 liter. I tend to monitor it to the point of ridiculous-ness though. In the summer months I get around 18.5-19mpg but during the colder months it slips to 17.3-18.5. And of course I had to make a long winter drive so I could throw away "engine warm up loss", lol. I noticed I also lose close to the same amount with my Thule box on the roof. Damn degredation of aerodynamics.

Should be getting 20 on the hwy,,in town about 14,,I am just guessing since my odometer hasn't budged in 3 years..Keeping it tuned and a clean airfilter makes a world of difference. I just know I have to fillup every 2 weeks

Hi, I'm a newbie to this chat, but I have a 2004 Sport 4x4 and it gets 26-27mpg on the hghwy and 15-16 city. My hubby is thinking we should sell it, but I really love it and I know we'll get slammed on the asking price because it seems everybody is jumping on the smaller "green" suvs that are coming out now. Has anybody sold their 4Runner recently who can let me know what the market will bear? Hubby thinks selling in the Fall will make a difference. Any ideas? Thanks, Lisa

I havehad 2 2nd generation 4Runners with a 3.0 V6 and 18 mpg is just about right. On really nice days on strictly highway driving you might get 19 mpg.

You actually get 26-27 mpg in a 2004 model? I take it that's a V6 engine in that truck?

A few factors that limit it the mileage are: its a truck and its heavy, not much of aerodynamics, I dont know where you are but here in the N/east you have 10% ethanol in all gasoline which has less energy. even the EPA ratings wer'nt high my 91V6 auto factory window sticker show 14 city/ 18 hwy!

I am a bit ticked. I bought a 2011 v6 4Runner because of the capibilities and history and also because it was rated with the best gas mileage in its class. 17 city and 22 highway. I am getting a very pleasing 19 mpg around town. However on the highway driving freeway speeds I have yet to get over 18 mpg. My first trip I barely hit 17, and that is only after dropping a few thousand feet in elevation. 4 mpg less than the rating is horrible in my opinion. I have 5000 miles on it. The sales person at the dealership (Larry Miller Toyota in Murray, Utah) told me that I could expect to get better than the 22 on the highway. I also asked the sales guy at Karl Malone Toyota in Sandy and he gave me the same response. Imagine my shock when it was much worse. Hope this helps.
