Katsu 12-06-2006, 02:51 AM How many people joined the forum with a problem on their 4Runner?
I didn't join because of a problem but I do have a major one : blown engine lol thats what I get for racing. In defense I did beat the Chevy I was racing but it blew my cam apart.
Kamakura Kid 12-06-2006, 07:44 AM What? There's other reasons for joining a forum? Well, whaddaya know. Good thing I joined.

what kind of racing were you doing?
Katsu 12-06-2006, 11:38 PM Canyon
If you don't know its like a road race but from one place to another and in a canyon. It usually goes from the top to bottom but also bottom to the top of a hill, cliff, steep incline, ect. The place I was racing at there were a lot of corners and sharp curves but at the end of the race there is a drop off that is straight, really steep and it is loooong. The way I had my suspension set up I could take the curves faster than a lot of cars but with an engine that has 200k + on it i couldn't handle the drop. Half way down it started to click really loud and before I could put it in neutral the cam blew apart, the head gasket blew, and the head warped up off the block.
I know this is stupid but it is fun and I'm going to do it.
I almost have enough money for the new engine. When I get it I'm going to lower my 4Runner past stock and possibly throw on a turbo.

NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooo ooooooooo.....................
Katsu 12-08-2006, 12:15 AM Its not as bad as you think. I know nobody lowers their 4Runner or races them on the road but thats why I want to. I've seen a few pics of them lowered and it looks like crap because the body is so narrow and tall. I'm good at fiberglass and body work so when I get it lowered I'm going to try a widebody conversion...the first one of its kind. As I do things to it I'll post pics. I know I will miss the off road part of it so I think I'm going to buy my friend's and raise that one taller than my current one. Its a crazy idea but worth a try :D
icerunner 03-10-2007, 11:10 PM Sounds great, give it a try and let us know how it goes!

DJCAMEL1 03-21-2007, 06:33 PM Hey guys. Just joined up yesterday. I have a 96 sr5 4x2. I myself have been kicking around the idea of dropping it ever so slightly, mainly for the improved handling. I've seen very few that looked good this way, but when done right, it's pretty sweet. Since it is a two-wheel drive I wouldn't feel like too much of a traitor. Plus since I just ordered some aluminum 22's for it, I'm sure the 4x community will disown me anyway.

Welcome! If you don't take your truck offroad then who cares what others think. It'll besomething different than the norm which in my book is just fine. What kind of wheels and tires you going with?
DJCAMEL1 03-23-2007, 01:15 AM Hey thanks. They're made by a company called Asia Wheels Holdings LTD. Its a model R703. They're modeled after the Enkei Deep Six which is what I really wanted. None of the local Tundra owners want to get rid of theirs though. Found some online new with Toyos for $1600. I got these in 22" instead of 20" for the same price. The tires come with the package deal in 305/40-22 (which will probably delay my thoughts of lowering it any for now). Probably cheap tires but most cheap companies don't make 22" tires. Who knows. I'll see when they come in I guess.

BCPlatnumBomb 03-23-2007, 09:12 PM It's tough to imagine those on the truck. When you get them on, let's see a pic!
Also, watch out for potholes...be a shame to destroy a rim since you only will have a 40 sidewall. Here in Michigan, I wouldn't dare with the way they keep the condition of the roads.
DJCAMEL1 03-31-2007, 01:55 PM Hey guys. Just got my pix up with the 22s. They do look a little different. The webbing between the spokes is painted black. I may try to get that part polished out or painted silver to match the spokes so that they look more like the Deep Six wheels. Anyway, here is a decent pic to give you an idea of what they look like.
DJCAMEL1 03-31-2007, 03:07 PM Ok why is the pic not coming up? (newb.)

Do you have the pic you want to post hosted on a website? When you click reply, you'll have to provide the URL to the picture.
DJCAMEL1 04-01-2007, 01:56 AM Yeah I've got the pic posted on Slide.com. The same place I use to post my MySpace pix. Never had a problem before. It's pretty big but I usually get a message if the site can't handle it. (is there a size limit here?) Gonna keep tryin. Any more suggestions will be appreciated. Got 1 pic and a pretty cool background for it on MySpace if ya wanna check it out. Just so you guys know, this in no way is any kind of advertisement.

Ok guys try these.
BCPlatnumBomb 04-02-2007, 08:39 PM I like it because it's something differentwhile still not being tacky.Do you take the vehicle off road at all?If notyou could lower it a couple inches to minimize the gap.
DJCAMEL1 04-03-2007, 11:10 AM Yeah that's pretty much what I was hoping for. To answer your question, no, I don't go off-road with that one. I have another toy for that job.

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking I'm going to leave it alone for now. The tires are pretty snug when I turn the steering wheel and I'm pretty happy with the stance. No reason to spend any more money on it right now. I don't stay satisfied for long though. So I'll keep you guys posted.
christysrunner 09-03-2007, 08:59 PM I joined just cuz I got sick of all the jeep site that get to chatand help each other out. When I found this site...well, here I am.
