antifreeze coolant in transmission

antifreeze coolant in transmission
'99 4runner , A broken transmission cooler cause an exchange of liquid
in my radiator and my transmission, the coolant system was purge and restore,
the transmission is a problem, some guys tell methat the transmission must be reconditionned
( $ 2500 ).
Some other tell me that since it was working properly before the incident, i could
only flush it with transmission oil few times, to get rid of the antifreeze coolant and refill it.
There is a big difference in price beetween these two options.
Anyone as a opinion ?

RE: antifreeze coolant in transmission
When you get water in the oil you can still drive it for a little bit with out doing damage and transmissions aren't near as complicated as engine internals. I say just flush the **** out of it and get back on the road (if you didn't drive very far).

RE: antifreeze coolant in transmission
Same thing happened to my '99 4Runner, 196k miles. Not sure whether it's worth repairing. At this point, the repairs include the radiator (replace), and mechanic trying to determine whether there was any damage to the transmission. current repairs at $1200. Any thoughts on whether it's worth repairing?
Thanks.
Thanks.
