  Good Morning folks,

New to the site but like what I see (friendly info w/out a lot of BS) from everyone.  I've got a 98 4Runner with the 2.7 ltr 4 cyl w/auto tranny.  Ive tried several forums and am getting fairly ambiguous answers to my questions so here goes:  First:  Comments on the "Deck Plate Mod" as a budget breathing increase in lieu of the K&N setup or some other until $$ accumulates to the required amount.  Seems like a logical enough mod as long as good quality air filter is used.

Second:  Does anyone have any good  reviews on headers for the 4 banger. (Found a review of one @ 4x4Wire.com that sounds pretty legit)  Was done in conjunction with a complete exhaust system change so it is pretty thoroughly done and the author sounds credible.

Third:  How available are cams for this engine?  if not readily available is it possible to contact someone like Competition Cams or Crane Cams and have them dial one up and grind it for this application (somewhat above stock of course).

Fourth:  With respect to larger valves, porting and polishing the head, porting the intake runners etc, are there any min/max specs out there anywhere or should a reputable machine shop be able to calculate the proper specs so the end result doesn't end up being a mismatched dog of an engine?  The last thing I want is to spend hard earned $$ and have a bunch of good parts that are not compatible together for optimum performance gains.  Thanks in advance for anyone's input/suggestions.  Look forward to talking to everyone more in the future.
