Just my latest 97 4Runner on it''s first 4WD trip, up in New Hampshire. My rig is virtually bone stock, with factory locker, and Michelin 265 (barely) ATs. The trail was a lot more difficult than a stock trail, it was intermediate. I was running with built up Toyota Land Cruiser FJ 40s, built up Toyota Pick ups, and a lone FJ Cruiser, who all had big meaty tires, multiple lockers, and beefed up suspension. I got winched on one rough spot, but other than that, I made the whole trip, though I trashed the running boards (I was gonna get sliders anyway). The group I was with couldn''t believe it, they never thought I would make it even a 3rd way through. A lot of the guys who own older Cruisers are very old school and think they are invincible, but my litttle 4Runner kept up with them. Also, many skeptics were turned around on the performance of the FJ Cruiser, which also performed very well. I''m just glad my rig kept up as well as it did, and I can''t to put some more mods on it, such as bigger tires, a limited slip up front, rock sliders, and stronger bumpers, front and rear. I''m in a Land Cruiser club but I''ve always owned 4Runners and that''s not likely to change anytime soon.
