Fender Flare
 

the problem. I live in Upstate new york, and this is a daily driver = lots of rust. thus far i've been sanding it down and repainting over it. but now i want to cut it all off, and add fender flares. however all i can find is those bushwacker extent-a-flares for a 93 4runner, and which hardly give any information at all. can someone give me their expert advice? i'd like to avoid body work and welding, but i want to get this rust off before it grows even further.

wow lots of rust. There is a place with some FRP fenders, let me see if I can find the link. Its a 4x4 shop, so if you search or I cant find it, you might be able to. Search Fiberglass 4-runner fenders

I've been looking as well for flares to put on my 94 4runner and came across some fiber glass ones on Ebaymotors in all kind of various sizes. Some guy is selling them and getting them from over seas. Also found some rather cheap ones at http://www.toyotapartstore.com/. I'm still trying to decide which ones to go with. I'll probably wait until my 4" X 3.5" lift is put on.

i have a similar problem...and a friend told me about miracle painyou take the rust flakes off trims ect and you brush it on its la 45 $ for a quart...and it goes hard like steel againand it kills the cancer if applied everywhere and it penetrates too great stuff if you apply more coats the better,after that get some fiberglass resin about 2 litres ,and brush the resin everywhere to seal it all ,let cure,then apply the fiber to patch all holes depending on your finishing skills,you may want to use gravel guard paint ...its a lot of work but it can be done in 2 days ,one side a day
im thinking of brushing the whole frame with that stuff ..phone the people who restores old cars they will tell you where to buy it ,its not sold in stores and the make is bills'hirst might have the spelling wrong ...

Yeah they got it for alot of restorations, but still needs other work then that. Its not plug and play sort of speak. Plus he has a few holes it looks like, cant do much about that. Bushwacker flares hehe.

ya your right its a lot of work...but i think its easier then cut ,shape ,and weld a new piece on...and those fender flare are too expensive for me...im cheap lol

I will sell you some BRAND NEW right out the box, never installed Bushwackers for cheap...

Plus treating and covering it up is MUCH MUCH MUCH cheaper then cutting and pasting, plus paint. Unless you just use piss-can, kind of cheese though, because the black ABS plastic looks nice even without paint.

hey i forgot to thank you about finding that link about those chemicals...really cool
cause i want to destroy all that rust and yes its a good idea just to cover it up ,that im good for a few years,or sell it for more hey ,where are you located im in vancouver canada ,well im near belligham s washinton and if you re willing to sell the flares for cheap im willing to be the buyer
