Default PCV valve nightmare

Hi all, in removing old pcv valve from 2000 4runner, seems like bottom part of grommet dropped into valve cover. I know there is a baffle there, thats why I can grab it, but am leary to try to remove it so it doesn't break into a bunch of pieces. Is there less of a risk just leaving it in there as opposed to breaking it into smaller pieces? Not sure what that baffle looks like on inside, pulling valve cover not an option at this point. Thanks in advance for your input.

Gotta love plastic parts. Every time I've had to do something on our van that involved plastic parts something broke. Lucky for me, it hasn't been this big of a job.
