Ran dry on oil.....
'95 3.0L, managed to run it dry with a leaking oil filter.<IMG src=smileys/smiley19.gif border="0"> *Berate here* Got the rig towed home. The engine still turns over but there is a horrible rattling in the upper part of the engine and it has lost power. My question is: Will this require a full engine replacement ($6000 at dealer) or can a rebuilt head do the job? Are these engines (main bearings) prone to total failure when running dry? I just want the straight story so I know were I stand when talking to a mechanic.</P> Thanks,</P> Al</P> |
Ran dry on oil.....
I broke a connecting rod. I'm looking at two used engines for $2500 and $2800. $1200 to install. This is chaper than a short block..... <edited><editID>AlTheOnly</editID><editDate>38559.8371759259</editDate></edited>

Ran dry on oil.....
Got a motor with a 6 month warranty. Had the timing belt and h2o pump replaced as well. That is all.
