Smell From Engine

It rapidly dissipates and does not smell at low or high speeds . . . only when I've stepped on the gas, as I would when passing someone. It's a 2003 V8 4Runner |
RE: Smell From Engine
Sounds like your catalytic converter is bad. The smell could be drawn in from under the hood through the cowl.

RE: Smell From Engine
I've got the same problem...same setup (V8, 4wd, 2003, 81,000miles) I mostly notice the smell when there is a window open, particularry the rear window, so I leave it shut. It is the Cat. Converter...Toyota has a problem with that as my neighbor complains about his camary doing it as well as his daughter's corolla. 1 good thing I see: if someone's tailgating me I just step on it...they wonder who ripped one!
