tranny fluid capacity

Noob to this site... first post.
I did a search here and didn't find anything on this.
I need to know the tranny fluid capacity (dropping the pan and changing the filter). I've got a 2000 6 cyl (w/4WD).
Hayes says 2.2 qts, local parts store says 2.2 qts, but I know from the last time I did it (darned if I didn't write it down...) that it takes a lot more than that, hell, I dropped that much on the floor (drain plug is a different story, had to drop the pan the old fasioned way).

Great site! I'd have vistited sooner, but this truck just keeps running despite the 106K miles on it.
Thanks,
-h

Hi there nice to to have you here!! My runner is a 91 it takes 4.5 quarts unless you have it completly flushed T converter & all,Never done that before But they say it would take 8 Or more ..I just do it like your doin!Start wsith a couple start it with brake on shift it through all the gears at about 2000 RPM from Park to Low And back make sure its at normal operating temp !! then check it in park keep going through this proceduer and ad fluid til it to the hot spot on the dip stick .Then youll be fine..
GOOD LUCK write down how many it takes.
KEEP ON RUNNIN
