1990 4Runner gas mileage

Hey I was wondering what other people with a 90 4 runner v6 get for gas mileage. I am getting about 17.5 mpg which seems really low to me, because my work van gets 18mpg and its a chevy. I just got it, and is my first toyota so thought I would see if filling up every 2 days is normal. I have 197,000 miles on it. Thanks for spending your time reading this.

Is that highway? Depends on mods etc...

I get almost 20mpg highway and I have 33s on my 92 4-runner. Also it has 250,000 so it depends on your 4-runner. Street I get about 10-11mpg, im heavy on the pedal hehe.

I have a 98 Limited 4wd. Std tires 33 psi. K&N air filter, exact replacement for factory filter and I only use Mobil 1, 5W-30 oil.
I recenttly got 23.02 MPG highway and that was with AC on about 40%. There is only 95000 miles on this very sweet truck. I have never owned a better vehicle. I also run Techron fuel injector cleaner 2-3 times a year in a full tank when I'm doing highway.
