Default 2005 4runner starter kit

hi,

I just purchased a 2005 4runner sport limited edition and was looking into getting a remote starter kit. The 2005 comes with the factory standard keyless entry and panic remote. I was wondering if I can get a remote starter kit installed utilizing the factory standard remote or do I need a whole new remote ... that would be pretty troublesome to have two remotes on a keychain.

If I have to get a whole new remote for the remote starter kit, any suggestion as to which one is the best for a 2005 4runner?

thanks.

Default RE: 05 4runner starter kit

I had the dealer install the remote starter kit in my 05 4runner. Instead of buying a brand new runner, I went with a really nice 'yota certified pre owned. This was in Sept 08 I bought the 05 Sport V8 4WD with 23k miles. It was in great condition and since I saved a lot buying used, I got tons of accessories including the remote starter kit. I used to be stationed in Virginia and having the remote start was key to getting the car ready for the day. I had a focus back then with remote start as well. In the winter hit the remote start and the defroster, heated seats, and engine would all be ready by the time I'd walk out the door. For the hot and humid summers, hit the starter, and 5 minutes later I'm driving away in a chilled out focus after a long day working on an airfield. Now that I'm stationed in Camp Pendleton it's nice to have that AC kickin' when I get off work. I make daily use of it.
