4runner Crosswind Complaints?? or Not??

Howdy, I am a former 4runner owner (1998) and thinking about getting a new one. My lat 4runner was a disaster in crosswinds. It blew from lane to lane in 30 mph winds. Now I'm living in New Mexico where the spring-time winds easily reach 65 mph gusts. The question is, how is the current generation 4runner in strong crosswinds at high speeds --of 80 mph plus??? I recently had to trade in an '05 xterra because it couldn't handle New Mexico winds. You're feedback will be critical to my decision. Thank you very much.

Have 2005 with custom 4" lift and never had any problems with crosswinds at any speeds. It stays on the highway as glued.

I've got a 98 and had the "lateral stability" problem you spoke of until I canned the original Michelens that were on it and changed to BF Goodrich A/Ts. The thing still moves around a little but for the most part stays pretty well planted in just about any weather conditions - especially rainy weather and with standing water on the roads. The difference from the original tires is like night and day. Try different tires with a more aggressive tread. It might make a considerable difference.

I had a 6" lift with my 92 and no complaints. Just like with any vehicle though, know how to drive in it. I have been threw NM and Im in TX and its windy as hell near the coast all the time and no problems.
