'04 4Runner Speedometer problems

My wife just called to let me know her speedometer is no longer working. The rest of the gauges are fine. Anyone know anything about this or have experienced this? It is an '04 with 59k, 2wd, V6. Are these run by a sensor?

I had the same problem. The dealer had to replace the whole electronics unit. Also the factory had to set the old mileage in the odometer in the new unit. This took two days. I was under warrenty so I was lucky.:)
