Hi i just joined thie forum . I have a 07 4runner . do you get a banging noise after you stop at a light when driving your 4runner . I brought mine to the dealer who said oh thats normal it is the rear end its just the gears stopping ???? Any response will be appreciated thanks Paul

LALA"S TOY 07-27-2011 08:06 AM

Hey Paul,
Took mine to the dealer also...said nothing wrong....here's what you need to do...Grease the slip joint fitting at the rear of your drive shaft...look at the drives side sun visor...it states this...thats what is causing the clunk...it was driving me nuts...thought it was a sticking caliper...keep it greased up and you will be good to go...mine took alot at first but now I hit it after every oil change and never had a problem again...Can't believe to dealer didn't tell me about that, as a possible cause. Good luck... Mark

Hey Mark , thanks i will try that A.S.A.P. my dealer telling me thats normal really grinds my gear . I do not see anything on sunviser about this issue but i really appreciate your answer . Thanks Paul

i do not see a grease fitting ? i looked at rear universal joint and rear of driveshaft . any suggestions ? thanks Paul

LALA"S TOY 07-31-2011 06:51 AM

The grease fitting is on the propeller shaft its self right before the slip shaft. You may have to rotate the shaft 180 to see it.

Did you find it Paul ???
