RE: 2001 4runner, daytime running lights
I might be wrong on this one--BUT i don't think you can--Unless you jump the parking brake switch and take out the brake light indicator bulb in the cluster.
But I wouldn't recommend that....The DRL has its own control relay that is integrated w/ tailights/parking lights etc...Toyota runs that circuit differently in several vehicles so tampering w/ it is not a good idea..Not to mention could become costly if you mess up... |
RE: 2001 4runner, daytime running lights
Why would you want to disable your DRL's?
|
RE: 2001 4runner, daytime running lights
As to why disable drls...The upgrade silverstar bulbs run hotter and burn out quicker, and the extra expense doesn't justify running them on lower wattage ALL the time. Also there are enough idiot proof devices. I don't always want my lights on. Deerhunting for example. So any body got a work around?

RE: 2001 4runner, daytime running lights
I'm with you, I hate those DRLs. There are two local Toyota dealership around me; one refuses to turn them off for "safety" reasons, the other will do it for $40. So, you might consider taking it to a dealership. Good luck!

Thanks for the idea. I asked my nearest dealer who thought I was nuts. Now to find one who might help me. LOL Will post the results.
