4Runner 1995 V6 Head gasket issue !

Hi everybody,

I'm new to 4WD.
I just got myself a 1995 V6 4Runner and the owner told me that his Mechanic diagnosed the car with head gasket issue. And as temporary fix he put some Chemi-weld in the radiator.

I did a bit of an online search about the issue and everybody has complained about overheating, oil mixing with water, etc ...
My car doesn't have any of those issues.

How can I be sure if it really has the Gasket problem? And what is the best fix? Repair or engine swap?

Thanks in advance
Ali

Overheating because exhaust gases get pushed into the coolant system.

Oil from the cylinders gets into the coolant system and then when you shut it down the pressurized coolant seeps into the cylinder (water in the oil). Then when you start it up with coolant in the cylinder you get lots of white smoke that smells musty like coolant, not like fuel.

As far as the fix, depends, how long has it been that way? If it's been leaking for a while it could have ruined the head or block. Most likely though everything can be resurfaced and with new gaskets it'll be as good as new. Actually better....
