4x4 dont work

I drove my 97 4runner from CO to MT last month and the 4x4 was working then. Its been sitting here in MT for a few weeks and now the 4x4 doesnt work. It will go in low range, high range, and neutral but the front wheels wont turn and the 4x4 light doesnt come on anymore. Any suggestions? Thanks.

are you sure the linkage is still connected?

Im pretty sure the linkage is still hooked up. I dont think it would go into neutral and low range if it wasnt. Do these things work off vaccum or electrical?

I have the exact same issue. When I installed the supercharger on my 98, there indeed was a vacum hose for the 4x4. Now it may not be a vacum issue but acutator issue. I know, I think changing out the front pumpkin and transaxle with syn lube might loosen it up. I still have to do this. When the weather is warm or the engine and components hot, it will engauge regularly.
