87 "manual" transfer case procedures
 

So, my auto tranny decided to give new meaning to the phrase "lock up." Just hadthe flex plate replaced last Nov. Long story short: tranny locked up two weeks ago and basically tore the new flex plate apart.Tranny, t/c and t-case all needed rebuilding. Sincerepairing theauto drivelinewas anywhere btwn 4500 to 6000 bucksdepending on whether I got the current stuffrebuilt or gotrefurbished stuff, I decided to convert to manual tranny instead.Much, much cheaper. Plus, I never did like that juicebox. Found a good donor truck at a local junkyard and bought everything from the main seal all the way back to the pumpkin. I'm gonna have some pros do the work, though.

Anyway,I was wondering if someone could walk me through the proper procedures for shifting the gear driventransfer case from 2H to 4H then 4L. With the chain driven t-case that came with auto trannies, you could shift on the fly (up to 25mph) going from 2H to 4H, but going from 4H to 4L required a full stop. Same requirements coming back up.Donor truck was a 87 p/u with the carbureted 4-cyl engine.
