91 4runner won't start HELP!
Howdy, never have gone online for help before, but this has me pissed off. I have a 91runner with the 22re cylinder engine and the other day I was just starting to gove it a tune up, and pulled what I thought was the MAS, removed the two Philips screws on the sensor and pulled and when I realized that those were wires and not the mas, I reinstalled it. Tried to start the truck (that ran just fine before this) but it just turned over, no start or sputter. I went online to find out that it was a VAFM (vane airflow meter) and broke the seal off the top to see the damage, connected back the wires but didnt solder the broken ones back onto the circuit board because they had contact. Tried starting, no luck. So I pulled off the two disconectable wires on the circuit board and tried again-same thing no luck. Even disconnected my battery for 10+ min to reset the ecu-no luck. I went and bought an afm off a 91 with a v6 from a junk yard and installed that (everything fit perfectly) disconnected my battery to reset the ecu and then tried starting it with everything hooked up with no luck-just turned over. It seems like it's not getting gas...is there a reason why the fuel pump would fail under these circumstances? And how could I do a fuel pump test to see if that is the problem? I am aware that the amf controls the fuel pump so I Dont know, I'm stuck. Thanks!
