clutch or clutch fluid

So, I recently bought a 1991 4runner (v6). which I must say am absolutely in love with it.:D HOWEVER, the person I bought it from had a rebuilt engine put into it prior to my purchasing it. I have driven it maybe 2k now I'm having trouble shifting into 1&2 gear and its grinding when I go into reverse. when I do finally get it into a gear it sometimes learches forward. Is there any way to tell whether i need a clutch vs clutch fluid. if I need a clutch any recommendations? (Beck Arnley, EXEDY, LuK, AISIN)

Check the color of your fluid. If its black either the master or slave has worn out, if its clear could be the clutch system.
