‘86 4Runner -I want to switch to 8cyl!

I own a nice old ‘86 4Runner which still had its original 22RE at 290,000 miles. But alas.... the head gasket is on its way out , so it’s time to make the switch to 8cylinder! It’s currently an automatic as well, and so I’ll want to switch that to standard too...

I need help with where to start!! I know there’s kits out there to make the switch..... Am hoping for the Forum to come thru and get me going in this! I do have a good (former dragster mechanic) friend who’ll be doing a lot of it for me...

id also like to put some cool
side pipes on it!!
