rear window stopped going down.. fuse?
 

My rear window stopped going down on my 93 4runner so now I cannot access anything through the back. It doesn't make any noise when I push the button. I was wondering if anyone knew where the fuse is at for the window motor for the back window. Thanks

I have a 93 4Runner that had the same problem. We had to replace the motor.

I have a 90 model there is two things you can do jump the motor-straightwire it to the battery to see if it works.if it does, the next thing is the relay it will be on your right hand side rear fenderwell behind the utility box(facing the back window) there is two ways to fix it replace the relay or rebuild it with parts from radioshack.you can find one on ebay for about 60.00 bucks.

seems to me that this rear window problem is very common. only just found this forum today and regestered membership only a few hours ago. flicking through the pages of this forum there seems to be a common fault with this rear window and if anyone can come up with a solution to this boy will they be the bees knees.
i've got a 94 4r with the same problem allthough when i press the switch i can hear the motor running but the window still doesn't move.
come on guys and galls lets find a way round this. there doesn't seem to be a problem with the door windows going up and down so why is this rear door causing us so much grief?

I'm new to this forum as I just purchased my first 4runner - 1994 w/ 125k miles, some rust, but runs well. I have the same problem - the rear window won't budge, but I do hear the motor trying to work. Should I take it to a glass repair shop since it might just be off it's track or take it in for a look at the motor instead?

We have the same problem with a 92 model. The motor works but the window will not go down. Any suggestions?

My window in my 95 quit 2 years ago,,The motor must be removedthen I move thewindow up and down MANUALLY with a suction cup( the type used for installing windshields) about $6.00 at NAPA My speedometer cable broke 2 years ago,,never fixed so the cruise doesnt work and a couple idiot lights come on when I exceed 3500 rpm. My headgasket went a couple months ago,,it had been replaced under warranty in 1997 so I figured what the heck,,it lasted 11 years,,I'll spring for another one just don't go cheap! Buy quality headgasket kit not the $40 dollar foreign junk

A good reason is no one ever lube those rear windows. They have super easy access but since the water easy collects in there unlike the side windows it makes for more problems.

I had a 92 with the same thing, I had to push it down hard while turning he key to get it to move. After cleaning, lubricating again (mine was good) changing the rear seal can help alot too, it dry rotts pretty easily.
