Weird tranny issues 1993 4runner auto

Hi folks I am a new poster. I have a 93 4runner v6 auto. My transmission is acting up on a non regular basis. The vehicle is driven about 100 miles daily.Lately when I am close to work I lose overdrive then it is sluggish in every other gear when I attempt to drive again.
I shut it off for a few minutes start it up again and it works fine. My speedometer tends to read really high or not work when this occurs. It was rather frustrating leaving work today not having a problem and only having first gear for a few minutes.
Seems like an electrical problem but my Haynes manual has next to no information for an automatic. Does anyone have advice or had a similiar problem. Thanks

Damn man when was the last time you did a fluid change or a filter change?????? Sounds like that might help, if its been a really long time or never only change about 6 quarts now and 6 quarts again after about 3000miles. Dont change it all NO MATTER WHAT any service station says, trust me you wont have a tranny anymore if you change it all, well known....

Not an oil flow problem, valve body, torque, planetaryor band problem. When I shut it off it is resetting. the problem lies in a sensor or a gate that ties speed, rpm, and torque together. Either one or all.

sorry man have to agree with jt that sounds like your tranny is about to go the speedometer turning up in situations like that is it slipping and that is why you are losing first or maybe even shifting hard at times.your fluid is burnt and is thin maybe causing overheating in your trans. that is why it happens close to work.if im not mistaken the filters in them trannys are metal strainers so you can drain it and clean the filter andput it back in your tranny.you should notice that your fluid is black.(supposed to be red.)you cant drain it all from your torque converter so that is where a tranny shop comes in handy.
