Gas Milage
Be cautious when going to aftermarket filters! Most aftermarket filters allow more airflow via larger filter pores. The downside of this is that the larger openings also allow more particulates to pass through. To compensate, many aftermarket filters (K&N included) are coated with an oil-based product to capture the particulates the filter doesn't (to prevent engine damage...later you clean them off and recoat them as recommended by the filter manufacturer). The downside of this is that the oil-coating productcan itself blow through, coating and damaging critical sensors (resulting in increased maintenance costs to replace them). Whichever aftermarket filter you select should be FULLY capable of capturing all particulates within the filter matrix itself without the use of a (supplemental) coating product.

Can anyone suggest any other dry cold air intakes other than K&N. I too heard about the K&N cold air intake that needs to be oiled. I would appreciate any suggestions for a good dry cold air intake? What is a good manufacture to go with instead...? thanks.

Alot of things can improve gas mileage. Slight increases in HP will actually give you better gas mileage since you wont have to step on the peddle quite so hard to get ahead. Hows the mileage and the maintenance done on it? That makes all the difference.
In the order as stated, due to price and items to support the next mod. Air filter/cold air intake. Improved spark plugs/wires (the 02 is DI?) exhaust style (catback, meaning from the cat to the back) Headers to the CAT Upsizing the diameter of the throttlebody I would say thats about it without tunning. Other things to think about Tunning 02 sensors Coolant fluid (older the fluid the more resistance on the pulley, not anything big. Like hey I changed my coolant I got 5hp. It can be compareable to reducing the weight of your pulley though) Thats about all I can think of at 9am. hehe on sunday |
