I have just purchased a 2006 4Runner Sport Edition with the V8.:D It white with the dark gray interior. I have waited a long time for this vehicle and TOYOTATHON was the perfect time for me to get it. I look forward to meeting and getting to know the 4Runner on line community.

My father has an 87 4Runner with the 4 cylinder turbo engine. It has given our family excellent service for a long time now. I must carry on the tradition.

Welcome! Although, you're newer than me to the site (just signed up).

About 6 months back I bought my 1st 4Runner, a 00' Black SR5. Hopefully I can learn a bunch more about the vehicle from everyone here.

Some @#$%# hit the back of my fathers truck and put a dent in the chrome bumper and tailgate. It was parked at the time, so we don't know when it happened. That sucked, but what can you do, I guess that is why we have insurance.

That sucks man. The same thing happened to my friend's Monte Carlo. It was totaled in his driveway three days after paying it off. All you can do is fix it and go on.

The 2nd gen 4Runners (like my 87)had very weak bumpers fore and aft. Just plain old sheet metall of a gauge a little bit thicker than the body panels. Absolutely useless, a friend of mine go his 4Runner totalled when a Civic rear ended him. Ironically, that was only a few days after the truck had to spend weeks in a body shop getting fixed after he rear ended some other Japanese car. Seeing him go through that, I got a Smittybilt dual tube bumper on the front. Iwill get me a matching rear sometime soon, after I recover from the 6K worth of various repairs I just had to get done.

Thought they would've fixed that glass chin/ass problem by now, but the trend continues I guess.

my 98 came with a bent back bumper can any one please tell me what the etc button on the center console means please still trying to figure this truck out
