i recently bought a '97 4runner with 173,000 miles on it . everything seems to sound on it. do you think it has much life left in it . i was hoping so . i never had a 4runner but i did have a camry before with about 230,000. i hope that it is as durable. let me know of people you know with similiar exp.'s

i play hockey with a guy who ONLY drives 4 runners...the one he got rid of a while back had like 385,000 on it..the one he has now has like 250,000 and is in gorgeous shape yet..the only issue that he has run into was replacing the timing belt.

I know alot of people who are pretty anal about mileage on a car but I dont think it is as big of an issue with toyotas. When I bought my 87 it had 193,000 miles on it and still ran great. I think the only mechanical problem that I have really had with it was the alternator went out right after I got it but no biggie. The truck was awesome, I could still chirp the tires on it...before we put the 33's on. The truck is getting a little tired now but it has also been driven at least 25 miles a day goingto work and home, sometimes a couple trips backand forth in one day. I also live, and work in the mountains, so we have put some wear and tear one the poor thing.It was kind of put on the back burner when I got the 91 last winter, so the old one hasnt been driven much lately butstiil fires up great when We do driveit <edited><editID>87runner</editID><editDate>38471.6675925926</editDate></edited>

i think your good to go. in my opinion, toyotas are the most reliable cars on earth!
