Marine buys first 4Runner, upgrades?
Hey everyone I would like add my 2005 4WD V8 Sport to your forum. My buddy and I found we both loved 4runners when I went with him to buy his used 99 all black 4runner Sport. When he re enlisted he bought a new '08 V6 Sport. I knew I had to get rid of my car and get what I've always wanted. I changed duty stations from Quantico Va, and drove my car to Oregon where I'm from. I knew I'd be buying my 4runner at home back in Sept 08 and rock the Oregon license plates. It was a close call between a brand new 08 Sport and this 05 Sport with 23,000 miles. In the end I ended up taking the 2005 4WD V8 Sport, Toyota Certified Pre Owned. I_LOVE_this thing! I added navigation/Sirius radio, ipod interface, heated seats, and the leading edges protection coating from the dealership with the extra money I'd save instead of buying a new 4runner. After all that the dealer added in free all weather floor and cargo mats, when they learned I'm a Marine. Thanks guys.
After driving to Camp Pendleton in my new 4runner, I returned to Oregon with it for Christmas leave. I decided not to fly when I heard about the snow Oregon was getting. It was the first time I'd take my awesome ride into some snow and have a little fun. I underestimated how much snow Portland of all places, was getting. Outside the Metro area gets the snow, not the city...well it was the first time I had seen the sign "chains required entering the metro area" I had a blast that December. I never had to use the chains that I rented. I got stuck only once when there was a pipe sticking out of the sidewalk where I had parked and the snow came in heavy the night before. I had to carefully manuver around it and fight the hill and snow. The rest of the time I was unstoppable. My then girlfriend fell in love with my 4runner and would rather drive it than her 08 BMW 3 series. If I didn't love my 4runner so much I'd jump a the chance to drive her car. Sorry dear, this is Daddy's 4runner.
I would love to add performance kits, as gas gets guzzled quickly in this beast. Driving from Miramar to Camp Pendleton every day is racking up unwanted miles. I plan on getting a motorcycle for the commute. First things first though, any opinions on upgrades? 05 4WD V8 Sport. Galactic Gray Mica.
