Toyota Tire Restrictions
I'm shopping for new tires for my 2005 SR5. Because I camp, fish and tow a travel trailer, I felt like I should get some all-terrain light truck tires. Toyota tells me that I should stick with the tire size that came on the vehicle, namely, 265/70/16. It seems like all light truck tires, except for the BFG T/A KOs, come in the 265/75/16 size.
What is the downside if I go with the 75 rather than the 70 aspect ratio? Will Toyota disown me or cancel my warranty? WB |
RE: Toyota Tire Restrictions
bummer . i got the 17" rims. you must have a lot of $$$$$ to chuck new tires. my advice is to wear them out then get new ones. my dunlop tires lasted no more than 18k before i threw em away. i had to cause toyota sucks for being cheap bastards.
i highly recommend revos good luck |
RE: Toyota Tire Restrictions
You'll be fine with 75's. IIRC, they run about 1" larger in overall diameter than 70's. I've been running 75's on my 2002 for about 9 months with no problems whatsoever.
BTW: Revos are a highly regarded tire, but somewhat pricey. Also check out Firestone Destination AT's and Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armors. If you're looking for a less expensive tire, the Cooper Discoverer ATR is great for the $. |
