Trim fenders or Body lift?
 

Hey i only have 30" bfgs on my 87 4runner right now, but when the tread goes down on these id like to get 33"s. then i plan on getting a 3in body lift... OR i am also getting new fenders, so should i keep the old ones and just trim those? so i dont have to trim my new ones if i go that route. im pretty sure ill end up doing both but wanted to know what u guys would do</P>

You should just go with a susp. l lift... it's more functional, I think... and... you could get your 33's! I've seen some cheap (not cheaply made) susp. lifts for 1st gen 4Runners... Look around... I'll keep my eye out!

if your old fenders are rusted anyways why not cut them? mabey it will look cool?

I just Lifted my 89 with a 3" body and put 33 12.50 15 on and there was no trouble with the tires rubbing at all. I went to a local tire business and bought all 4 tires for only 550.00 not a bad deal.

I will have to agree with Keggo if it was my choice I would rather have a suspension lift myself. You also get alot more suspension travel and they usually ride better. With a body lift you have shfting problems sometimes if it's a stick you have to probably cut out where the shifter comes through. It is a cheeper way to go but, not in the long run. It actaully looks meaner anyway. It's an 87 hah so it is an IFS front end. Just do what I did on my 95 and got two inches out of it. Sway away torsion bars in the front adds about 2inch without cranking it up in the air, makes a better ride to. On mine I have rear coils so all you have to do is get add-a-leafs for yours. Make sure you align it when your done if you go this way. This should only cost roughly $350.00 dollars with align. The only draw back to this is you can only fit 32x11.50/15 inch tires on 8 inch rims but let me tell you it looks pretty damn good. Let me know if you have any more questions</P>
