Default Low oil pressure indicator

Good Day,

I own a 1995 4-Runner with 198,000 miles and it runs like a champ. My problem is this; yesterday on my way back from a short trip I noticed the oil pressure indicator gauge drop to Low, I immediately pulled over and checked oil level via the dipstick. Oil level was normal so I got back on the road, engine temperature gauge read normal for the rest of my trip. Could this be a faulty gauge and if so would it be safe to drive to my local Toyota mechanic (80 miles away) for a check on this problem?

it could be a gauge problem, but i would think that it is the sending unit.
