Default Towing Capacity???

Would love to haulone of the light model shortertoy haulers from time to time with a 900 lb motorcycle in it. Am I dreaming? I have a 2004 with the V-6. I believe the towing limit is 5000 lbs. Is 5000 lbs realisitc or do you wear out the 4runner??? Seems like a trailer dry weight of 3800 lbs and the bike would really put me at the limit.

Thanks Rick

i wouldnt test if your 4 runner has a automatic. i pull a car trailer will 2 quads, a couple of dirtbikes, and the sand rail. its around 6200 pounds depending on how many poeple come and put sh*t on my trailer. i am sure its not good for it but it really dosent even slow down on the grades. Mines a5speed, woudn't try it with aautomatic. i have blow up to many yota auto trans.

Just wondering what size trailer you are looking at that weighs3800 lbs?

My 20ft x 8.5ft car hauler weighs 3175 empty. You might want to consider a smaller trailer to get the weight down.
