05 speedometer 'off'

05 speedometer 'off'

2005 4runner sports, 4WD with 85k. speedometer not working, all other gauges are working fine. HELP!

Hi,
First of all check up the wire of speedometer. easy way to check the wire is that connect another speedometer to it if you have a spare.

It appeared to be the motor on the needle of the speedometer. My buddy wiped out the instrument cluster ( 30 sec ), took it apart and when he spins the needle, it made the grinding sound when the other needles were all smooth and quiet.
However, we put it back together and it's been working fine since. I'm just going to leave it until next time....
