Default 2000 V-6 hard to start

Daughter inherited the 2000 4-Runner for College and called to say it would not start. She drove it to a store and shopped for 1/2 hour, when she tried to leave it would crank over fine but not fire up.After going through some basics with her Ithink it isa fuel delivery problem. It had done it before sporatically. Had her put it in neutraland try it. I could hear the vehicle cranking over fine in the background. It finally started up and ran rough briefly then was fine. Any ideas?

she is trying to give it gas when she starts it?
It wasnt fully in park when she tried to start it? (unknown since most cars wont even try to crank)

When was the last time it had a tune-up? How many miles etc..?

Where at? Possible bad gas???

As you can see there are about 1000 possibles, need more info though.

She was'nt trying to give it gas, I had her try that while cranking though. It started soon after that. The vehicle is in Georgia. Tune up has been a while. 150,000 total miles on it. She used it the rest of the day to and from school with no other issues. Hope itkeeps her going til the weekend when I'll be able to see her and maybe do some checking / testing. Possible clogged throttle body?Any ideas are appreciated!
Thanks

a sticky injector can do that, or a few of them. I would say seriously get a tune-up, run a little super or mid grade fuel threw it for a while, maybe take it out on the highway and give it a good truck down the road and then see where your at, its cheaper then any service/troubleshooting you may pay into it on and its good for the truck, try and see.... might be very surprised.

Finally had a chance to do a semi tune-up (wire set, plugs, fuel filter, clean K&N air filter. Runs great! I will update as situation warrants. Thanks!
