Bought a 2001 4Runner 2 weeks ago..it's alarm gets armed automatically and I mean just as you close the door. Imagine my embarassment at Gas stations and malls when people look at me as though I'm breaking into my own car.

Is there a way to re program this..?

 

i am a security specialist. i can help with the problem.
to shut off alarm. find a push button switch located onder steering column or drivers kick panel.
once u find turn key on and hold button down until blinking alarm light turns on solid.
alarm will be off but the remote will still lock/unlock car.

find the brain a small black box about 6 x 4 x 2 under dash get me model # or all #'s off of it and i will send you program instructions to
shut off automatic arming.

if the brain is a remote start/alarm combo the brain will be slightly bigger. about 20-40% bigger
