Default 2005 4Runner rear hatch window, defrost and wiper issues

Hi all. I am new to the forum. I recently purchased an 05 4Runner Sport 4wd with the 4.7l engine. I discovered afterwards that the window defrost and wiper did not work. Unfortunately, it was mechanic checked prior to my purchase, but, apparently he did not notice several issues that I now got stuck with. It turned out that the window motor, defrost motor and track were completely rusted out amongst some other issues. I replaced the track and defrost motor as well as the window motor. My question is two fold:

1. How do you hook up the track spindle to the motor? The square male end and the female track end are not lined up to slide in. How can do I adjust to allow them to fit in; and

2. I did hook up the motor to the wiring harness to see if the switch etc would adjust the square end to adjust, but, it did not. I heard an audible click when I pushed the window down button and another audible click when I pushed the window up button. The motor is brand new and a genuine Toyota part. There does not seem to very much on the Internet with regards to actually installing the motor.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
