87 4Runner rear window mess

Default 87 4Runner rear window mess

Hi I am about to take a Big hammer to the window It has never worked since I got it I am ready to go back to a Pick up I have no power to the Switch and my key will not fit the one in the door I have the Haynes manual it says there is a relay for the rear window if any one has any ideas where it is It would make life a lot easierthe rear window is the only power window in the truck Thanks Craig

take the panel off the inside of your tail gate, if sitting in the cargo area and looking at window assembly you will see the mootor to your window on your right, you can do this a few different ways, the easiest in my opinion take the motor out, it'll be 3 10mm bolts if i remember correctly on the back side of it in a triangular pattern. Now you can trace the wires back and put in a new switch by wiring new hot wire and a 3 stage toggle (up, down,neutral) or go through the relays under the hood in front of the battery(towards the cab)

Thank you for the help I found a rather strange think if I run a ground wire to the female part of the plug by touching the pins I can get the window to move up and down go figure thanks Craig

I'm having the same problem with my 87' what did you do to fix the problem with the grounding wire. I'm new so sorry if this isn't the place to asks this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance
