Default 93 4runner proper way to engage 4x4

Hey everyone I just bought a 1993 4runner Sr5and wanted to know the proper way to engage 4x4 high and low. I've been told to drive under 50 and I can just put it in 4x4high, and drive under 10 and bump it in low to properly engage the 4x4. Is this the right way, or should I be at a dead stop? Thanks guys I just want to know the proper way before I wear anything out!

which motor was in it? i think you should be in neutral and if you drive manual, just be sure to release the clutch then press the button.

Ive always been at a dead stop in neutral with foot off clutch to put into 4x4 low... Its not going to go into low while rolling... And rolling in neutral (under 50) with foot off clutch to go from 2 hi and low... Of course mine still has the instructions on the top of the sun visor!

I would always STOP to put my vehicle in 4low. Also, do you have automatic locking hubs or have to get out and turn them? Obviously you have to be locked in first. To go from 2wd to 4wd high you just need to be under 50mph but again, i'd stop to shift into 4low.
