Default Alarm and driver's door lock

Yesterday I used the remote as usual to lock my 2005 4Runner and it made a weird sound so I hit it again and the alarm went off. Then I realized that only my driver's door lockisn't responding and my alarm is doing funky things. Last night as I tried to fix it, it went off every 15 seconds until I played with thedoor lock for a while and finally got it to stop (thank goodness!) Any suggestions? Why is itonly thedriver's door lock that doesn't respond to the remote? I thought it might just be a battery issue so I checked my spare remote and had the same problem. Then I checked my fuses.Allwere fine.Is this some wacky electrical issue? Has anyone heard of this?

I recently came across this same problem. All of the power locks workexcept thedriver's side. The driver's side lock will even go partially down, but not far enough to lock. It will only lock by using the key on the outside or pushing it down from the inside.

I called the dealership and was told it was likely a power door lock actuator which is located inside the door panel. Explains why only one door isn't responding. They saidit runs about$475 to repair. Yikes! I'm going to take it to my neighborhood guy who will identify the problem for free. Unfortunately the part is quite expensive though. For now, I'm using the key.
