does your taillights still work? if they are out too, then it is probaly a fuse.it will be labeled taillights in your fuse box

Taillights and headlights work fine...the guages work fine...I just cant see them at night....Im thinking its a relay or the dimmer switch....some jerk at a dealership quoted me $142 to replace the dimmer switch!

Dimmer switch has a rheostat in it.

Yeah, 4Runner switchesare frickin expensive, $tealer$hip wants $167 for teh rear windwo defroster switch. Sheesh...

Maybe a junkyard?

If thedimmer switch is a simple rheostat type (hopefully its not some overly complicated deal like the frickin rear window defroster on/off switch, that little beautyhas six wires going into it!), you might be able to get a rheostat switch at Radio Shack that'll do the job. If you get really fancy you can pop the knob off your old switch and glue it onto the replacement.

Worth a trip to Radio Shack, anyway.
