lights out....help!

Default lights out....help!

My guages and ac panel lights went out the other night.....the warning lights work and the guages themselves work....buts its all dark...I dont think itsthe fuse or the bulbs.....so is it the relay I need to replace?

Had the same problem, turned out to be a bum rheostatfor the panel light dimmer.

does your taillights still work? if they are out too, then it is probaly a fuse.it will be labeled taillights in your fuse box

Taillights and headlights work fine...the guages work fine...I just cant see them at night....Im thinking its a relay or the dimmer switch....some jerk at a dealership quoted me $142 to replace the dimmer switch!

Dimmer switch has a rheostat in it.

Yeah, 4Runner switchesare frickin expensive, $tealer$hip wants $167 for teh rear windwo defroster switch. Sheesh...

Maybe a junkyard?

If thedimmer switch is a simple rheostat type (hopefully its not some overly complicated deal like the frickin rear window defroster on/off switch, that little beautyhas six wires going into it!), you might be able to get a rheostat switch at Radio Shack that'll do the job. If you get really fancy you can pop the **** off your old switch and glue it onto the replacement.

Worth a trip to Radio Shack, anyway.

it was a fuse fellas.....i just noticed tonight the taillights were out....so i changed that fuse and it fixed everything....the taillights and the guage/heater panel lights!!!

thought it was fixed....now im blowing fuses left and right......could it still be the rheostat?
