This morning I was taking the kids to school and had a little trouble starting up. As I rode I saw that a lot of white smoke/steam was coming out of the tail pipe. When I got to the school it shook and then died. I tried to start and it turned a little but then I heard a little pop and dies again and then I look back and there a lot of white steam/smoke coming out again. Does anyone know what it means? Please keep in mind that I can't do much because I'm 8 months pregnant and don't know too much about cars...if anyone would know what the problem is and about how much it would cost I would greatly appreciate it.

Oh and it's a 93 4runner with a V6 automatic.

 

From this and your previous reply it sounds to me like you have a cracked head. I had a cracked head on a 91 4 Runner that had exactly the same symptoms. Sounds like yours has progressed to the point where the head has to be replaced.
