if you paid for them to fix it, take it back..they didnt fix anything, they only reset it...something has to be causing the problem...

Default RE: Problem with TPS code and shifting

I had the exact same problem on my Grand Cherokee and I thought it was the tranny until I got the code for a TPS problem (P0138 or something). Knowing that it is generally the sensor itself when these codes come up, I first checked the wires and connector going to the sensor which were ok, and then went and bought a new TPS for about $50, swapped it in the parking lot and took it out for a trouble-free test drive.

FYI, the check engine light will come on when the computer experiences a given malfunction during 2 consecutive driving cycles. When the shop cleared the code(s), they would not trigger the check engine light right away. You probably paid around a fair bit to have your codes scanned and cleared, which takes my $150 codereader about 20 seconds, so tell the shop you don't want to pay for it again (because the light will stay on even after the actual problem is fixed) when you change the sensor, since you already paid for a diagnosis and they fixed nothing.
