hello there, i have a 94 with 3.0 and automatic. last week it started every morning from an overnight sit, not shifting into overdrive no matter what speed i go, but after a mile or two, if i make a complete stop its fine for how ever long i drive it untill it sits overnight again, does any one have any clues what to check, fluid is fine not burnt . thanks...

I'm not too familiar with the 2nd gens but it could be that it's waiting for a certain engine temp or shift cycles through the trans before it will kick into OD. Normally tranny's won't go into OD until the engine is warmed up. If you take it out after sitting all night and drive it straight for 10 miles to get it hot without stopping will it go into OD then?

 

not until you come to a complete stop, then its fine.
