I noticed a canister looking thing in the wheel well of the front driverside tire on my '98 4x4. There is nothing connected to it. I found a capped vacuum line nearby. What is it for?

 

could you maybe get a picture of it? not sure what your talking about it could be brake booster, master brake clinder or I dunno what else has a vacum line? or maybe describe it a little better? sorry trying to help, but i'm not able to understand what part your trying to describe.

 

well it just a round canister looking thing mounted in the front drivers side wheel well basically below the battery but not accesible from under the hood. Everything works. Power brakes etc.

 

Could be the activated charcoal cannister that removes gas fumes?

 

i thought the charcoal canister was the thing behind the battery that sits on top of the wheel well mounted to the side of the fender.
