Default Where do I hook up my code scanner??

Hey all.. I have a '99 4runner, V6, auto.,4wd, and the check engine light has been giving me fits.. Came on last year for about 2-3 months then all of sudden went off.. Thought maybe the bulb burnt out but about 4-5 months later, it's back on.. I had bought a Actron OBD II scanner to find & fix the problem, but my Haynes manual doesn't really show or tell me where the ECM hook up is.. Can anybody give me an idea where to look or what to take apart?? Thanks..

I'm just guessing, since I have a OBD1 Runner...

Look for a small box attached to, or really close to, the main fuse box in the engine compartment. Should be labelled Diagnosis, or something along those lines.
